Sinker EDM Features AI-Driven Efficiency

Mitsubishi Electric, newest innovation, the Mitsubishi SG70 Sinker EDM, integrates cutting-edge AI-powered technology, advanced power control systems and a user-friendly Mitsubishi M800 CNC control. Designed for high-precision industries such as aerospace, power generation and automotive manufacturing, the SG70 offers an optimized machining process that reduces cycle times and electrode wear.

At the heart of the SG70 Sinker EDM is Mitsubishi, proprietary Maisart AI technology, which optimizes machining parameters in real time. This advanced system, combined with D-CUBES sensing technology, continuously monitors and adjusts machining conditions to enhance accuracy, reduce errors and improve efficiency.

With Maisart, intelligent control strategy, manufacturers benefit from:

  • Faster cycle times with high-speed jump control
  • Optimized machining conditions for enhanced precision
  • Reduced electrode wear, lowering material costs.

"Equipped with the Intelligent Digital Power Manager 3 (IDPM3), the SG70 improves machining speed,up to 25% faster than conventional methods," said a company spokesperson. "By suppressing edge wear, it allows for single-electrode machining, reducing set-up time, increasing productivity and lowering consumable costs."

The IDPM3 also offers:

  • Consistent machining quality with adaptive power control
  • Extended electrode life through optimized energy distribution
  • Enhanced surface finishes, reducing post-processing requirements.

Mitsubishi Electric has always been committed to operator-friendly design. The SG70, M800 CNC control offers a 19" touchscreen, an intuitive smartphone-style home screen and shortcut menus for simplified operation. Additional features include:

  • Three-sided automatic elevation tank, providing easy accessibility
  • Automated fluid level adjustments, synchronized with head movement
  • Action Menu and Navigation Menu, guiding users through set-up and machining
  • Centralized consumable management, tracking usage and replacement logs.

The rigid machine structure and high-power supply unit of the SG70 help manufacturers achieve greater machining quality and electrode wear with industries such as aerospace, power generation and automotive.

"Unlike many competitor models, the Mitsubishi SG70 comes with a full suite of standard features, including: 120 amp generator; thermal displacement compensation system; and XYZ scales," said the spokesperson.

Additionally, the power-saving function reduces energy consumption during idle times, making the SG70 an eco-friendly choice for manufacturers looking to improve sustainability while maintaining high performance.
