T.J. Davies Co., Inc., a manufacturer of retention knobs, celebrated its 60th anniversary earlier this year. The second-generation family-run manufacturer may be heading into its seventh decade, but is not sitting idle as they continue to invest in new technology and have several new product lines in the works. In addition to offering a wide range of retention knobs, the company manufactures custom machine components, typically for older machines where parts are hard to obtain or are no longer available.

"We are proud of our heritage and strive each day to attain dad's original goal of earning every customer's trust with each order they place," said T.J. Davies President Sherry Davies. "Closely working with every customer allows us to better understand their issues and how we can help them. Those discussions have led us to continue our investment in equipment and technology and in the development of new product lines-all 100% American-made and backed with exceptional customer service."

Over the past year, the company has purchased several new CNC lathes for standard and custom machine components and updated some of their testing equipment. A new Starrett optical comparator allows the company to reverse engineer custom components.

"This is an investment in the future and a testament to our belief in American manufacturing," continued Davies. "We continually strive to get better, and the Mazak will help us to achieve that. We are able to machine components from raw bar stock to ready-for-heat treat status around a common axis. That means better concentricity and precision, which helps our customers make their products better."

In addition to striving to make the manufacturing community better, Davies and her team are active members of their local community as well. They hosted their first ever Toys for Tots toy drive last year and are already planning how to collect even more toys next season. They also helped aspiring engineers get a firsthand look at engineering when they sponsored the Emerging Engineers summer camp through Kent State University College of Aeronautics and Engineering last summer.

"It is a real pleasure to support our local community as well as our manufacturing community," said Davies. "We are looking forward to exhibiting at PMTS and are already planning for the 2026 IMTS. The future is bright and I am sure dad would be proud that his core mission still drives us today."
