Solid Carbide Drill Program

A comprehensive, 68-page color catalog provides details and specifications, cutting data and speeds and feeds for the EMUGE-FRANKEN . It features multipurpose and application-specific drilling solutions grouped into three performance classes to ideally fit application requirements. Included in the program are new MultiDRILL, SteelDrill, InoxDrill, PunchDrill tools and more. The catalog also provides technical and troubleshooting drilling tips.

The extensive portfolio of EMUGE-FRANKEN drilling tools includes:

  • The MultiDRILL multipurpose line features top quality carbide drills suited for manufacturers in a job shop environment with many materials. The tools are designed for manufacturers in a job shop environment with many materials. The MultiDRILL line also includes 6 x D micro drills ranging from 0.0394" (1 mm) up to 0.1160" (2.95 mm) in diameter.
  • The SteelDrill line features drills with a concave primary cutting edge and optimized edge preparation, making the tools suited for machining steel and cast materials in addition to hard and nonferrous materials. Drills are available in diameters from .1181" to .7500" (3.00 mm to 19.05 mm) and in 3 x D, 5 x D and 8 x D lengths.
  • The InoxDrill line features tools with a custom EMUGE coating and polishing process and a single margin design that reduces material adhesion and provides improved hole guidance, making the drills suited for machining materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, titanium and nickel-based alloys that are prone to adhere to cutting tools. InoxDrill tools are available in diameters from .1181" to .7500" (3.00 mm to 19.05 mm) and are available in 3 x D and 5 x D lengths.
  • The PunchDrill line offers high feed drilling in aluminum that doubles the feedrate compared to standard drills, without increasing the axial force or spindle speed, the company reported. The tools are suitable for machining cast aluminum alloys with at least 7% Si content and are available in drilling depth ranges up to approximately 8 x D, the nominal diameter range from 0.098" to 0.472" (2.5 mm to 12 mm).

Additional high performance EMUGE-FRANKEN drilling solutions highlighted in the catalog include:

  • The NC Spot Drill line of sub-micro grain carbide drills engineered for applications with tight hole location requirements on materials such as steel and stainless steel alloys. The drills are available in a single angle 142° point design for pre-drill operations for carbide drills with 135°/140° point angles and are web-thinned to reduce chipping at the center point and extend tool life. In addition, the EF-C Step Drill line of high performance carbide step drills are available from stock in various step lengths and with the exact diameter required for pre-drilling tapped holes. The EF-C Step Drill is a high penetration rate drill that creates short, consistent chip formations in a wide range of materials.
  • The solid carbide Micro Drill line ranges from 0.0295" (0.75 mm) up to 0.1181" (3.0 mm) in diameter, with coolant through design. Micro Drills are designed for producing very small deep holes in steel, cast iron, stainless steels and nonferrous materials and are suited for aerospace, medical and precision automotive applications. All tools are 6 x D length and can accommodate most production environments.
