Boring System Showed Automatic Diameter Correction
April 1, 2025
At IMTS 2024, CERATIZIT featured the KOMflex Spindle Head with its automated compensating capabilities. The fine-boring head, in conjunction with a BLUM measuring probe, enables automated diameter correction for precision holes in unmanned, closed-loop operation.
"Ensuring automated production of precision holes, the KOMflex guarantees process-secure machining," said a company spokesperson. "The results are significant time savings through automated measurement with the BLUM probe and correction with the KOMflex precision adjustment head."
The KOMflex head communicates wirelessly with the BLUM machine equipment. The micron-precise movement of the head allows shops to easily meet quality requirements.
KOMflex positions to an accuracy within 2 microns in radius, adjusts with a range of +/- 0.25 mm (.0098") and provides hole boring capability from 6 mm to 120 mm (.236" to 4.724") in diameter. With an IP67 protection-class rating, the unit handles coolant pressure up to 30 bar and spindle speeds of 4,000 RPM (in center position with optimum balancing). Two AA batteries power the KOMflex.
