7-Axis Machine Sets Up Fast for High Productivity
December 1, 2025
As part of its complete series of Swiss-type turning machines, Mazak offers the SYNCREX 20/7, which is particularly suited for processing small, precise parts.
With a maximum bar diameter of 0.787" (20 mm), the SYNCREX 20/7 provides high-speed production with its 7-axis configuration that is equipped with 5-HP (3.7 kW), 10,000-RPM main and counter spindles. Rapid traverse in all axes is 1,377 IPM (35 m/min) for optimal high-speed processing.
The SYNCREX 20/7 is a ball spline-connected sliding headstock machine with removable guide bushing adapter that enables operators to preset guide bushings outside the machine. Mazak's High Damping Composite Casting (HDCC) base provides high rigidity, greater vibration damping characteristics, less thermal growth and enhanced part surface capabilities when compared to a cast iron base machine, the company reported.
The Mazak SYNCREX 20/7 is equipped with the MAZATROL SmoothSt CNC with 15" touch-panel for easy input of set-up and programming data. Intuitive user-friendly screens make it quick and easy to touch off tools and prepare the machine for automatic cycles that contribute to faster set-ups and increased production. The machine's optional Mazak Swiss Setup Assist (MSSA) auto tool presetter function further reduces set-up time from days to hours through fast presetting of up to 25 onboard tools.
High-volume and lights-out production is aided by Mazak Dynamic Chip Control (MDCC), which effectively manages long, stringy chips that are often the byproduct of long periods of uninterrupted turning. The option oscillates the machine's axis to break chips into more manageable sizes for efficient evacuation.
Mazak offers the optional MT-Tablet as a secondary CNC display and bundled with either ESPRIT or Autodesk-PartMaker CAD/CAM software.
